Project Details

I am doing a 3000km Cycle ride to raise money to buy a Rickshaw for Project Life Coach's Bike Shop, to increase awareness of eco travel and because I love to ride my bicycle <3

The ride...

The first 1000km will start in Toulouse, France and take me through Spain to Idahna a Nova, Portugal, where I will stop at an eco festival for 8 days, I will gain much needed information about home-made products and an eco way of living which I will be able to use in the future. Of course there will be some dancing and yoga to stretch the legs, but solely in preparation for the long route home ;) I will then continue to cycle from Idhana a Nova, Portugal to Madrid, Spain, for 400km where I will get the train to Barcelona, Spain and complete the largest stretch of the 'cycle for a cycle' from Barcelona, Spain to Rome, Italy, 1600km.

The money raised...

I'll be using a crowd funding platform to raise money and every penny raised will go into purchasing a the Rickshaw to move my project forward. I have always dreamed of having my own business and being completely self sufficient. Over the last 2 years I have been developing my business plan and putting it into action between travelling and my current working life. Through ebay selling and regular boot fairs I realised that was a great way to earn a sufficient amount to survive, but I wanted a little more of my personality in what I was doing. I love to create things from bags to bracelets, food to informative booklets. My life is centred around health and well being and that is what I will centre the Life Bike Shop around. The biggest cost of the project the Rickshaw, which is a bicycle, attached to either seating (used as taxi's) or trailers and even campervans. I hope to get one custom made for the Life Bike Shop.

Why a bicycle?

As we can all see, in towns and cities, travel by car / motorcycle / van and public transport is becoming more and more stressful. Stuck in traffic jams, pumping fumes into the atmosphere and struggling to find parking or waiting for the bus and squeezing into a packed rush hour train. For me cycling has always been a part of my life, since my teen years riding through the forest, to my current life in Rome cycling through the busy streets, with the somewhat irrational Italian drivers. But I wouldn't change it for a thing. The benefits are endless; I have so much freedom with my bicycle, it actually takes less time to travel from one side of Rome to the other on bicycle than it does on public transport. I save so much money on gym fees and transport costs. NO CARBON EMISSIONS. No taxes, insurance or tests to ride. I see all of those beautiful side streets and hidden parks. Everyday on the bicycle is an adventure, even the days when the skies open and you find a waterfall at the end of your nose. For me the business will work perfectly as a travelling bike shop, I'll be able to collect my items and put them straight in the shop, without any delivery costs and I'll be able to take it where it needs to be. After this trip I'm sure I'll be inspired to travel so the little bike shop may even be seen throughout Europe.

I aim to leave Toulouse on the 20th July and to arrive in Rome the first week of September. The trip can be followed here from the comfort of your own home :D

Please feel free to share my project with friends
