~ An Arty Bicycle ~

Early this year I had the pleasure of going to Kenya and meeting the people behind Watamu Marine Association. Their project is a great inspiration to me as they combine their love for marine conservation, with community clean up projects, recycling and turning waste into art. They are currently in the process of building a recycle centre in Watamu Kenya the first waste management initiative in the area.

'
'In anticipation of this Saturday's Great Watamu Beach Clean up - here we get another masterpiece by Andrew McNaughton marine debris artist and sculptor. His highly original work has a conservation message too. This piece "Recycle" made from flip flip slippers, tooth brushes and lighters - spot the old flipper/fin on the back too. We love the seat heart! For for new marine debris installations ...stay on this page. Note also that Watamu's beach rubbish is brought in by the SW Kusi winds and sea currents and is not dropped on the beach'
